Meet Our Team

Robert Hakes, Owner

Robert Hakes, the owner of Robert Hakes Construction, has over 27 years of construction experience. Robert has been involved in every aspect of the construction process. He now manages the many details of his commercial projects using his years of hands-on experience. He oversees the construction process to ensure that each project is built to the company’s high standards and craftsmanship.

Our leader is unrivaled when it comes to evaluating and renovating properties, and he has built an excellent team over the years. He has always taken pride in developing relationships with his clients. Robert has always considered his crowning achievement to be his wonderful wife and raising three beautiful children. He likes to golf, fish, and spend time with his family.

Rand Hakes, Project Manager and Estimator

Rand Hakes is well known for his role as a dedicated project manager and senior estimator of Robert Hakes Construction. He has a strong portfolio of hundreds of different size managed projects. Rand comes from a family of experienced construction business owners and has over 8 years of experience in commercial construction. This industry leader brings to every project his detailed-oriented project management skills, goal-driven attitude, and strong customer service ethics. 

“Meeting new clients and assisting them in achieving their project objectives fuels my enthusiasm for working in the construction industry.” It’s very rewarding to see a project through from start to finish.” 

Rand spends his free time with his lovely daughters, who are the light of his life. He also enjoys fishing and golf.

Willie, Project Manager

Willie leads dedicated to the company’s reputable preconstruction services. He is a master of conceptual design estimating, particularly as it pertains to planning many one-of-a-kind projects. He provides clients with the detailed information they require to make informed project decisions. Willie approaches every project first and foremost from the standpoint of constructability, followed by an in-depth cost analysis. 

This project manager is an expert at devising alternative methods, materials, and construction strategies to keep the design within budget without sacrificing design. Willie enjoys traveling, college football and high school football. He has two sons and a beautiful wife who keep him in shape.

Daren Hakes, Superintendent 

Daren Hakes has worked in the construction industry for 35 years. He worked as a carpenter and crew leader for 15 years, framing custom homes in Arizona and Washington. Later in his career as a General Contractor in Arizona, he expanded his work to include custom homes and commercial projects. Daren relocated his family to the Pacific Northwest to work for Robert Hakes Construction. He also served in the United States Army, is a Vietnam veteran, and is the father of five sons and a daughter.

Ivan Kutsar, Superintendent 

As one of our lead superintendents of the Robert Hakes team, Ivan brings over 23 years of expertise in the construction industry. He is a dedicated worker, whose main goal is to ensure that our clients receive the highest-quality services that meet and exceed their expectations. He loves that his position encourages him to stay busy and always learning.

Ivan was born in Moldova, USSR. While not at work Ivan enjoys any and all missionary work and traveling. He loves sharing this hobby with his loving wife, two daughters and three sons. This giving and well-traveled superintendent has become an integral part of the success that the Robert Hakes Construction team displays.

Robert Long, Superintendent 

Robert Long is a highly experienced superintendent in the commercial construction industry. With over 20 years of experience, he has established himself as a leader in the field, overseeing numerous successful projects throughout his career.

Robert’s expertise lies in his ability to manage complex construction projects, ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget. He has a deep understanding of the construction process, from pre-construction planning to final inspection, and is skilled in coordinating with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Throughout his career, Robert has been dedicated to delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional service to clients. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and children.

Scott Burke

Scott Burke, Project Manager and Estimator

“Since my stepfather was an architect, the construction business was a part of my upbringing.” After enlisting in the US Marine Corps for 4 years on active duty, Scott began working in construction in 1987. He earned his Massachusetts Unrestricted Construction Supervisors License in 1989 and launched a construction business. Both residential and commercial construction are areas in which he thrives. Scott also owned and operated an irrigation design and installation business, as well as a custom artwork crating business for 10 years. 

 

Over the years, this innovative project manager came to realize how important it is to understand each client’s needs as well as a set of designs. He recognizes the significance of being a patient listener and being aware of his clients’ expectations. “I have a wonderful wife, two sons, two daughters, and three grandchildren. I enjoy all types of construction, repairing and restoring ANYTHING, spending days on the water with my family, and attending all our children’s volleyball, softball, baseball, basketball, and football games!”

Meet Our Team

Kim Barrett, Office Administrative Assistant

Kim was born and raised in the Portland area. She moved to Vancouver in 2008. Kim has been in customer relations for over ten years. Maintaining relationships with subcontractors and vendors in her role as office administrative assistant comes naturally. She has always enjoyed numbers and research so the position suits her personality perfectly with her attention to detail. What Kim loves most about Robert Hakes Construction is the care all the team members display for one another. When outside the office, Kim loves spending time with family and friends. “I have a 13-year-old son, he plays soccer, so I am that soccer mom.” She is also an avid master in the kitchen. She is passionate about creating fabulous new dishes for her loved ones.
